On Thursday, November 7th the Albemarle Area United Way will have much to celebrate with our community. The Board of Directors are pleased to host a dinner award program at the Carolina Center at Corporate Drive to honor Bruce & Anna Biggs, long time Keel Club members of United Way, for their philanthropic efforts over the past several decades.
“We are thrilled to honor Bruce ad Anna Biggs at our inaugural Philanthropy Award dinner.” They have quietly given to so many causes to benefit our community” said Bill Blake, Executive Director for the 9 county wide regional United Way. “The Biggs epitomize what leadership giving is all about”, Blake added
Being a coastal community, the Keel Club has significant meaning. The Keel of a ship is the main timber of the ship’s bottom that extends from bow to stern and supports the whole frame. United Way highlights this group because we know the keel doesn’t just happen; it is designed carefully and prepared through the efforts of many people working together for a common purpose.
“Please make plans to join us for an evening of celebration and recognition,” stated Julie Stamper Phelps, Albemarle Area United Way Board Chair. “National Philanthropy Day is November 15th so we felt our timing coincided nicely in terms of honoring Mr. & Mrs. Biggs.”
The evening will include a cocktail reception, musical entertainment and dinner catered by Montero’s beginning at 5:30pm. Corporate table/sponsorships are available
